Ned Boyd is a very active saxophonist and music educator. He travels all over the country playing with groups such as the Four Tops, The Temptations in places likeĀ Las Vegas for New Years eve, Detroit for Super Bowl XL, and under the St. Louis Arch for July 4th.
Ned is in demand as a studio musician, freelance performer, and orchestral sideman, performing often with Ft Wayne Philharmonic and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Just recently he performed with Wayne Brady and was guest-artist at the BSU Faculty Jazz Recital. Ned is also a regular on the poll-winning Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra and the Steve Allee Big Band.
Ned’s adjudicating duties are extensive and include Indiana State, Ball State, & Purdue Universities. Ned has given Master Classes at ISU and Duquesne University as well as at numerous high schools throughout Indiana.
Ned Boyd is currently the Band Director for the Logansport Community School Corporation in Logansport, Indiana. He is also the Saxophone Instructor at Purdue University.
Mr. Boyd earned his Bachelor of Music Degree and HS Diploma in Saxophone Performance at the North Carolina School of the Arts under the tuteladge of James Houlik and Masters of Music in Education, with Jazz Emphasis from the Eastman School of Music.
During a graduate school break, Mr. Boyd worked on a cruise ship where he met his wife, the former Jean Snider, a native of Logansport. They married two and a half years later and moved to Logansport.
